Even as the rate of mobile use is increasing among companies (especially due to the popularity of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) movement), it’s also burdening many organizations. As a result, these businesses are continually researching ways to try and lower the investment priority for mobile management.
Companies that are facing this dilemma are having to leverage their “enterprise mobile managed services (EMMS)” or—unless they’re willing to shell out big money for management and support—they are likely to struggle with their mobile solutions. By leveraging EMMS, these companies are able to bring in solutions like:
- Support services
- Scalable device management
- Cost management
- App delivery
Where’s Enterprise Mobile Going from Here?
Over the past 2 years, consolidations have been made in terms of EMMS and the trend will likely continue onward with any management venders that are left standing. Chances are those venders who survive will end up moving onto other areas and services that will be more lucrative.
The mainstream players in the game, for the most part, are BlackBerry, Citrix, Dell, IBM, HP and VMware – and others, such as Amazon, Apple, Cisco, Microsoft and Samsung, are likely to join the market. As of yet, no company has been able to capitalize on this and show potential in the growth market. Additionally, although much of the focus has been placed on mid-tier organizations, large enterprises are those that have the most opportunity.
The next two years could see more enterprise-grade mobile managed services emerge. There may very well be competitive market growth over the next four years, which means there will likely be losers. For this reason, enterprises should closely consider their options before going with a supplier. Be warned, though, that it could be difficult to discern which companies will be able to remain stable enough in the long term.
As this shows, the next handful of years could see quite a lot of changes in terms of enterprise mobile and enterprise mobile managed services. Let the enterprise mobile professionals at Innovative Architects help keep your business up-to-date and make sure you’re on the cutting edge of enterprise mobile’s evolution.
