In case you’re just meeting Innovative Architects, we’re an IT company filled with top tier talented consultants and developers. Our employees receive calls from recruiters every week (some are even bold enough to call the main office line)!
When your employees are in such high demand, you better figure out how to engage them.
Our latest effort? The “Styling & Profiling Dress For Success” contest.
Yep, you’ll definitely want to keep reading for these details below…
First of all, you should know we’re an IT company in every sense of the word. That means on any given day, you’ll see people in t-shirts, jeans and shorts.
Yes, we have folks who like to take it up a notch or two, but we have no “dress code” to mandate a certain look. There are no emails defining “business casual” or indicating in delicate, politically-correct language that yoga pants do not qualify as work-wear.
As you can imagine, this makes for a fun, casual environment that celebrates the talented minds of our employees and worries less about what others think. We want people to be productive, to care about our clients and foster relationships.
If someone can only accomplish that best when they’re wearing flip flops, then we’re all for it!
But as is typical here at IA, we decided to stir things up a little with a contest.
The rules were simple:
- Show up to work, whether at the office or at a client site, as if going to interview for a job. This meant suits and ties for men, dresses and pantsuits for women.
- For each day our team members participated during the month of September, they had a ticket added to the weekly drawing.
- We gave away amazing prizes each week, including a 60” television, a hot air balloon ride, a Big Green Egg and a Porsche Driving Experience.
To engage our team. To make the workplace fun. To add energy and excitement to projects and client visits.
We had over 87% overall participation, with a good number of people participating every day of the month. Yes, we had to invest in some cool prizes, but it was a money well spent to see our teammates dressed for success!
Value your people, engage their minds and make work fun.
