Enterprise mobility is one of the hottest trends in technology currently. Like all aspects of technology, experts expect that there will be advancements in enterprise mobility over the coming years. What these changes will be is anyone’s guess, but here are three trends that could have a major impact on enterprise mobility in the future.
Trend 1: Application Security
Enterprises started to turn their attention to mobile apps within the last 6 years or so. One of the driving forces behind the increased attention to mobile apps was the growing screen available on the iPad. This led companies to understand the possibilities of what a mobile app could really do.
As more mobile apps were produced, more attention needed to be paid to the security of those mobile apps. This year saw new attention toward mobile security through the Mobile World Congress and AppConfig, a new community that was formed to make mobile enterprise deployment and adoption run smoother. This is done by making the approach(s) to security standard.
Trend 2: Desktop/Mobile Convergence
This trend has been helped greatly by the release of Windows 10, and Microsoft will soon be releasing more capabilities this year that will further blur the differences between a desktop and mobile version of an OS. Traditionally, enterprises have distinctly separate desktop and mobile support groups; however, as the division between the two closes, there will have to be measures to streamline the teams that are in charge of support.
Trend 3: Regulatory Environment
This primarily takes place in California where the California attorney general indicated CIS Critical Security Controls stand as “the minimum security requirements for companies that operate in California.” At least as far as California is concerned, security is likely to continue a transition from being discretionary to being a part of the core “governance and compliance model.”
