But rather than just tell you about our industry experience, we wanted to show you exactly how our business solutions have helped specific clients achieve their goals.
First up, let’s focus on the healthcare industry – specifically, how the IA SharePoint team helped one troubled hospital develop their SharePoint intranet portals and streamline data sharing in the process.
St. Francis Hospital is located in Columbus, Georgia and has a well-established reputation for providing patients with quality and compassionate care for the past 57 years. As one of Georgia’s premier cardiac treatment centers and a not-for-profit community hospital, St. Francis is owned by the very citizens of the region it is dedicated to serving. In fact, their commitment to excellence earned the hospital a “Consumer Hospital of Choice” award in 2005-2006 by the National Research Corporation.
As a 292-bed facility offering a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services, in addition to housing an 84-bed mental health facility, St. Francis employed a large staff of approximately 1,400 employees and 350 physicians. Unfortunately, keeping such a large workforce organized was becoming difficult for hospital management. Furthermore, data sharing and collaboration was complicated among various departments since their existing intranet site was outdated and inflexible.
When St. Francis Hospital came to us for help, they were desperately in need of an updated and dynamic intranet portal site that could connect various departments, projects, and third-party applications, in addition to providing a platform that was easier and more function for their employees.
Through the integration of Microsoft SharePoint 2007, the IA team was able to aide St. Francis Hospital in a number of ways, including:
- Simplifying everyday activities for hospital staff which allowed them to serve patients more effectively and efficiently, as well as lower administrative costs;
- Cultivating collaboration between departments by deploying a shared workspace to meet and share information, documents, applications and tasks;
- Using SharePoint’s security features to securely manage patient data, update storage policies and keep St. Francis in compliance with federal and industry regulations;
- Create a dynamic intranet hosting platform capable of aligning with the hospital’s existing divisional structure and organizing content appropriately, while maintaining the hospital’s common vision for policies and procedure applications.
